19-inch and 17-inch models provide performance and reliability for varying needs of corporate and administrative users
Eizo Europe AB (“EIZO”) today announced the release of three new models to its SlimEdge series of LCD monitors, the 19-inch FlexScan® S1931 and S1921 and the 17-inch FlexScan S1721. These models are designed to meet the varying requirements of back offices and government facilities by offering a uniform design and a choice of response time, audio capability, stand type, and color.

All three models have 178° horizontal and vertical viewing angles. The contrast ratio is 1500:1 for the S1721 and 1000:1 for the S1931 and S1921. The S1931 is equipped for playback of moving images with a fast midtone (gray-to-gray) response time of 8 ms and a maximum brightness of 280 cd/m2. The S1921 and S1721 have a black-white response time of 20 ms and a maximum brightness of 250 cd/m2.
The uniform design features thin bezels around all four sides of the screen. 19-inch models are 15 mm across top/bottom and 13 mm along the sides and 17-inch model is 13 mm across the top/bottom and 11 mm along the sides. Dual 300 milliwatt speakers are tucked away at the back of the panel and out of view so there are no obstructions around the bezels, making the monitors more suitable for multi-panel configurations. If audio capabilities are not needed, the monitors retain the same appearance.
Two types of ergonomic stands are available for all models – a height adjustable stand and EIZO’s ArcSwing 2 stand. The height adjustable stand has an adjustment range of 100 mm, tilt and swivel angles of 30° and 70°, and a pivot angle of 90° for portrait mode. The ArcSwing 2 stand features a curved range of movement so the screen can be positioned at eye level or at a low angle akin to reading a book.
DVI-D and D-sub inputs are included with all models so they can be used with PCs outfitted with digital or analog graphics boards. When the monitors detect an analog signal, they automatically adjustment the screen’s clock, phase, position, and size to their ideal settings. BrightRegulator, another automatic adjustment function, detects the ambient brightness and signals the backlight to change the screens brightness accordingly so it is always at the ideal level regardless of the lighting conditions.
Brightness, gain, and color temperature (5,000 K, 6,500 K, 9,300 K, off) can be adjusted in the on-screen display menu. In addition, a 10-bit gamma correction function automatically converts 8-bit data (256 gradations) received from the computer to 10-bit (1,021 gradations) and then reassigns this data back to 8-bits with the ideal gamma values, producing smooth color gradations throughout an image.
Three image adjustment modes for word processing and spreadsheet applications (Text mode), web browsing and color management (sRGB mode), and user-defined settings (Custom mode) are included. EIZO’s bundled ScreenManager® Pro for LCD utility software can be used to assign a Fine Contrast mode to any application. When the application is opened, the screen automatically changes to its assigned mode.
EIZO offers a wide variety of accessories for enhancing convenience and flexibility including panel protectors and mounting arms and stands. For more information, please see default.aspx?page=10&category=5.
