Upplands Väsby, Sweden, February 27, 2008 – Eizo Europe AB (“EIZO”) today announced it will introduce a new 5 MP (2048 x 2560 native resolution) monochrome LCD monitor at RSNA 2007, the RadiForce GS520. Designed for digital mammography, the RadiForce GS520 features compatibility with a wide range of graphics boards, brightness uniformity from corner to corner, and a five-year warranty.
The five-year warranty is the industry’s first for a 5 MP monitor and is valid in every country where an EIZO subsidiary or distributor is located. The warranty specifies that the monitor will maintain a brightness level up to the recommended figure for calibration of 500 cd/m2 for a specific number of hours.1 This ensures stable and reliable performance that is needed for digital mammography.
The RadiForce GS520 supports three types of input signals for compatibility with a wide range of graphics boards according to budget and performance requirements. For budget conscious users, single link signal support allows for use with entry level graphics boards. Dual link signal support ensures the monitor can be used with higher performance dual link graphics boards. For users requiring 10-bit simultaneous display, graphics boards with packed-pixel modes are also supported. EIZO offers three cutting edge graphics boards for the RadiForce GS520: the MED5mp-PPP and VREngine SMD5-PCI, both with packed-pixel technology, and the FireGL V7350 with dual link signal support. All three boards contain twin DVI outputs.
EIZO incorporates its latest application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) into the RadiForce GS520. This ASIC contains a Digital Uniformity Equalizer (DUE) function to compensate for luminance non-uniformity, something characteristic of all LCD panels. DUE corrects luminance uniformity errors for every grayscale tone to ensure even uniformity across the screen and from monitor to monitor. This ensures not only optimal image quality for mammography, but that the monitor can meet the uniformity requirements for standards such as AAPM, ACR, and EUREF.
For quality control, EIZO offers RadiCS and RadiNET Pro software packages (sold separately). RadiCS offers precise monitor calibration with the bundled UX1 sensor, self-diagnosis function, and acceptance and constancy testing for standards such as AAPM, ACR, and EUREF. RadiNET Pro is web-based network quality control management software for performing remote quality control operations on up to 8,000 monitors from a central location.
A front button operated CAL Switch function consists of three user-selectable modes for viewing different types of content: DICOM (for DICOM images), Custom (for user-defined settings), and CAL (default mode for calibrating the monitor). Switching between modes can be done by pressing a button on the front bezel, or by using the bundled ScreenManager Pro for Medical software to assign a mode to a specific application so that when the application is opened, it automatically displays images in the assigned mode.
ScreenManager Pro for Medical allows the handling of OSD functions with the mouse or keyboard through a USB upstream connection with the PC. It also includes a backlight saver and an Independent Image Setting (IIS) feature. The backlight saver turns the monitor’s secondary power off when a screensaver is activated and then turns it back on again when the screen comes out of screensaver mode. This reduces power consumption and extends the life of the monitor. IIS allows for any area of an image to be adjusted and pre-set to various grayscale gradations and luminance levels so just one section of an image or one image among many can be highlighted.
Additional Features
· Available in clear base and blue base versions with a choice of glare or non-glare panels.
· Paring of monitors to ensure image display consistency for customers requiring two or more units.
· Compliance with stringent medical, safety, and EMC emissions standards including TÜV/GM, the CE Medical Device Directive, and cTÜVus.
