Eizo Europe AB (“EIZO”) today introduced the 21.1-inch FlexScan S2110W, a widescreen monitor designed for graphic artists, gamers, and 3-D CAD professionals with its abundant screen size, fast midtone response time, and ergonomic design.

The wide format of the FlexScan S2110W provides a 16:10 aspect ratio (1680 × 1050 native resolution) for significantly more horizontal space than the 4:3 aspect ratios of monitors with the same screen size. Users doing image editing or video editing software on the FlexScan S2110W can view their work and tool palettes simultaneously without any overlap, and multiple windows such as text documents and web browsers can be displayed side-by-side.

The S2110W’s screen is a near match for the 16:9 aspect ratio of DVD wide format content, keeping the size of black borders across the top and bottom of the screen to a minimum. The FlexScan S2110W has performance specifications ideal for multimedia applications such as video editing, gaming, or just watching DVDs. The brightness is an LCD TV-equivalent 450 cd/m², and the contrast ratio is 1000:1. An overdrive circuit speeds up the midtone (gray-to-gray) response time to 8 ms for smooth playback of moving images.

The design incorporates several features to make use comfortable and convenient. EIZO’s ArcSwing 2 stand offers an arc-shaped range of movement to allow the screen to be positioned up high near eye level or lowered at an angle akin to reading a book for a more natural viewing posture. The base swivels 172° so the screen can be shown to anyone sitting nearby, or for convenient access to the various hubs and ports without located on the side or backside of the monitor without having to stand or lean over. Electrostatic control switches make for a smooth front panel and are touch sensitive for reliable operation. The cabinet color is available in black to match the color of many Windows PCs and a white/silver combination to compliment the color and design of Macintosh G5 or Mac Mini PCs.

Connectivity options include dual DVI-I inputs and a USB 2.0 hub. The DVI-I inputs support both digital and analog signals from Windows and Macintosh PCs. The high speed USB hub includes two downstream ports located on the left side of the panel for quick connection to peripherals such as digital cameras or an iPod Shuffle.

For comfortable viewing of any type of content from detailed text documents to color-rich images, the FlexScan S2110W has EIZO’s Fine Contrast function which offers five imaging modes: Text, Picture, Movie, Custom, and sRGB. Each mode has its own settings for image parameters such as color temperature, gamma, and brightness. Navigating between the modes is done simply by pressing a button on the front panel. For further convenience, a Fine Contrast mode can be assigned to any application with the bundled ScreenManager® Pro for LCD utility software*. When the application is opened, the screen automatically changes to its assigned mode.

Additional Features
• A 10-bit gamma correction function automatically converts 8-bit data (256 gradations) received from the computer to 10-bit (1,021 gradations) and then reassigns this data back to 8-bits with the ideal gamma values, producing smooth color gradations throughout an image.

• 14-bit color processing for accurate grayscale rendering, especially in the dark areas and shadows of an image.

• Compliance with TCO’03 (white/silver cabinet only; black cabinet is TCO’99 compliant).

The warranty is based on a usage time of maximum 30,000 hours.

Availability
The FlexScan S2110W will begin shipping in September and will be available through EIZO’s network of distributors. The cabinet comes in a choice of white and silver or black.
