Eizo Europe AB (“EIZO”) today unveiled the FlexScan P1700, a 17-inch LCD monitor for corporate and home users requiring a simple yet reliable monitor.

The FlexScan P1700 is well-suited to text-based applications, web browsing, and playback of moving images. Performance specifications include a brightness of 300 cd/m², contrast ratio of 700:1, and a fast 8 ms response time (black-white). The viewing angle is 170° horizontal and 155° vertical (at a 5:1 contrast ratio) and the native resolution is 1280 × 1024. The OSD menu offers a sRGB mode for color management with other peripherals also supporting this color space. Color temperature settings include 6,500 K and 9,300 K, and the gain levels for red, green, and blue can be adjusted independently. The thin bezel cabinet design and an integrated power supply unit keep the monitor’s footprint small so it takes up minimal desktop space. The FlexScan P1700 meets VESA mounting standards so it can be easily mounted on an arm or a wall bracket.

Operation is simple, right out of the box. The monitor adjusts clock, phase, screen position, and resolution automatically from an analog source once the power is turned on for a “no-touch,” hassle-free setup.

The FlexScan P1700 includes two functions that quickly stabilize brightness and ensure it is always at a comfortable level regardless of the ambient lighting conditions. The first of these functions is EIZO’s patented drift correction circuit, which quickly stabilizes the brightness level after startup or when coming out of power save mode. The second is the BrightRegulator function where a sensor on the front bezel takes a reading of the ambient brightness and then signals the backlight to adjust the screen brightness accordingly. In a brightly lit room, BrightRegulator increases the monitor’s brightness level, whereas in a dimly lit room it decreases the brightness.

The FlexScan P1700 complies with some of the strictest standards for office equipment including TCO’03 (gray cabinet only; black cabinet is TCO’99 compliant). It also carries the EIZO Eco Products 2004 in-house label, signifying that it conforms to a range of eco-friendly criteria in respect of design, manufacture, packaging, and usage, including the partial use of recycled plastic and consumption of less than one watt of energy in power save mode.

EIZO stands behind the workmanship of the FlexScan P1700 with an industry leading five year warranty.
The warranty is based on a usage time of maximum 30,000 hours.

Availability
The FlexScan P1700 will begin shipping in late October and will be available through EIZO’s network of distributors. The cabinet comes in a choice of grey and black.
